26 pounds before I'm 26 - Day 16

Oh man!

I haven't posted in like a week! I also haven't weighed myself cause I'm worried I have gained weight :( Bad Kristen! Stupid Christmas and it's cookies and candy. I need to eat more vegetables! Tomorrow shouldn't be so bad. We eat Shrimp and Salmon on Christmas Eve in my family and I don't have anymore Christmas gatherings to go to.

Anyway, I have also had this skin reaction called Erythema Nodosum. It hurts like hell. It's mostly caused by my Crohn's. It's gone away, but I had no motivation to work out this week. I am def changing that next week.

I'm thinking about posting less often, but posting more meaningful posts, like things I learn a long the way. Most of my life is fairly boring so I should probably start having subjects that are my focus.

Anyway, time for me to sleep and dream about playing Skyrim on Christmas day...

26 pounds before I'm 26 - Day 11

So, The Protomen concert was as awesome as I thought it would be.

The only problem was that they didn't play long enough.

I really liked the band I Fight Dragons as well.

Anyway, I am at my family's Christmas get together. I think I've been doing pretty well in not over indulging and staying away (mostly) from the carbs. I did have one cake-pop and some lefse, but otherwise have stuck to the veggies and meat.

I probably won't have time to work out today :( but tomorrow will be a night full of swing dancing! :)

Anyway, I'm going to go back to watching Star Wars before I go watch the TLC PPV. :)

26 pounds before I'm 26 - Day 10

So, OMG clubbing is a lot of fun!

I was the DD, so I drank a lot of Red Bull to make sure I would be awake. Of course, the Red Bull made me feel ugh after a while. When I got re-hydrated and took a few sips of some ginger ale I was ready to go.

The thing I realized: I can have fun on the dance floor all by myself. It's not like swing or blues dancing where you need a partner. You can go out on the dance floor and just dance your heart out. I mean, I danced with a bunch of random people eventually and it was awesome!

And I figure I would have been burning a decent amount of calories on the dance floor :)

Time for swing dancing lessons and for The Protomen concert!

26 pounds before I'm 26 - Day 8

Tonight was Zumba night.

Yes, I realize my Zumba class is mostly filled with middle aged women, I don't care.

It's fun, it's a great workout. I really like my teacher too. She uses actual music instead of just the pre-made Zumba crap.

I mean, I probably wouldn't use most of the moves while club dancing, but maybe?

I don't have too much else to write about today other than according to Shape Magazine drinking dark beer is good for you because it has more iron in it than paler beers. Just gives me an excuse to drink my Guinness :)

I'll try to post this weekend, but I will be super busy.

Friday night I am going to a club with my friends Jess and Cory

Saturday early afternoon is my Swing dancing lesson with Eric

Later on Saturday is The Protomen concert with Jess, Kami, Mouse and Josh.

Sunday is watching TLC (Tables Ladders and Chairs) PPV with my friends Tony and Alex

Should be fun :) TTFN - Ta Ta For Now (Tigger, using internet acronyms since the 60's)

26lbs before I'm 26 - Day 7

Well, I had the idea for this blog a week ago today.

I checked the scale today and it said I was 149. I lost 1 pound! Yay!

Anyway, I'm planning on going to the gym at some point today.

Here is my current playlist. I recently had some of my friends on the Facebooks give me some ideas for some good music, so I'll have to check it out at some point and see if some would be suitable for working out.

I mostly have current pop songs on my playlist, inter laced with ridiculous power metal

1. Mr. Saxobeat - Alexandra Stan
2. Moves Like Jagger - Maroon 5
3. I Wanna Go - Britney Spears
4. Don't Wanna Go Home - Jason Derulo
5. Dawn of Victory - Rhapsody of Fire
6. Evolution (The Grand Design) - Symphony X
7. S&M - Rihanna
8. Dynamite - Taio Cruz
9. Evacuate the Dancefloor - Cascada
10. More - Usher (RedOne Remix)
11. The Cage- Sonata Arctica
11. Sexy Back - Justin Timberlake
13. SOS - Kofi Kingston (Not sure if it's actually Kofi Kingston, but it's his theme)
14. The Time Is Now - John Cena & Tha Trademark

And I forgot to mention, yes I have two pro-wrestler theme songs on there. I do watch pro-wrestling and no, John Cena is not my favorite wrestler. There's more, but that's for a different blog post...

Also, please give me some ideas of what to post about. If you have any questions or something you would like to hear more about let me know.

Another thing as a Techie I will encourage you to contact your congress person to let them know your opposition to SOPA, since it will destroy the internet.

The Sexy Techie - Day 6

Well this morning sucked.

I spent a good portion of my morning trying not to puke, of which I was unsuccessful.

I feel nauseous a lot actually. For no reason. I've gone to the hospital several times for this.

Of course, so many times I keep getting confused for being pregnant.

The doctors were convinced I was pregnant one time. It was pretty scary considering I was still in college, and both my mom and my boyfriend were with me at the time which made it super awkward.

Anyway, apparently a lab tech screwed up. I insisted they do the blood test twice, and the second time confirmed I was not pregnant.

Anyway, enough for that weird story.

Today I went to work, came home, did laundry and cleaned up my room a little bit. I also did some work since I missed work this morning.

Also, I am currently studying for the A+ Certification Exam. A lot of it is stuff I already know, but it's always good to review.

My friend Alex sent me this video of this girl Alyssa who lost 45 pounds. She has some pretty good advice. I plan on taking some of it tonight and planning my breakfast and lunch for tomorrow.

Time for planning then time for bed. Good night and Good Luck!

26 pounds before I'm 26 - Day 5

Well, I have to say, not eating carbs is hard!

Also, I still live at home with my parents. I resolve that 2012 is the year I finally move out of my parent's house and get a place of my own.

I will probably need to find a new job to do that. Which I should be able to get with my fancy A+ Certification. I'm also planning on getting Certified as Pharmacy Technician as well.

Why do I want this so badly? 1. I want to move out before I'm 26 and 2. My family has been driving me crazy. Sure I am saving up a bunch of money, have the money to invest in my education and this fancy laptop I am typing on right now but really I just want my freedom.

So, I am going to do everything in my power to make it happen.

I need to move out cause my family, as supportive and loving as they are, aren't necessarily in line with my new plan to lose weight.

So, I spend as much time away from my house as possible, trying to better myself so I can move out.

2012, it's going to happen. I don't care if the economy is shitty, I'm going to diversify and find a career that will pay me enough money to move out, (even if it happens to be the job I have and they just pay me more...) I'm going to do this. I'm going to lose the weight, I'm going to make more money. I've been working hard for all of this and I know if I work hard enough everything I want to achieve will happen.

Well, anyway... back to studying. And thinking about delicious carbs...

26 pounds before I'm 26 - Days 3 and 4

Okay, posting everyday is a challenge and I totally did not post on Saturday.

Well, it just means that I was busy with doing stuff so I actually have things to write in the blog...

Anyway, on Saturday I went to swing dancing lessons with my friend Eric. We took a beginner class and now we're taking a private class together so we can get caught up and take another group class in January. Swing dancing is so much fun! I have to thank my friend Mike for introducing me to Swing dancing. It is definitely a work out, but it is so fun you forget that you're actually burning calories. I can't wait to take more classes.

From there we got some lunch at this place called Kebobs about a block away from the dance studio. I got the Chicken Schwarma plate. It was good, but I had to not eat the rice because I have stopped eating carbs past breakfast.

Anyway, from there I hung out with my friend Josh and we watched this movie called Troll Hunter. Norwegians fighting trolls. Awesome. It's low budget, but it's pretty quality, so I recommend you check it out. Also, we went to this awesome bar called Bat 17 and got a delicious sandwich - which I took most of the bread off of it.

Anyway, Sunday was mostly chillin' with the fam, making some lefse (a Norwegian food - it looks like a tortilla) as well as getting our Christmas tree.

Also, some new developments on the Techie front as well. I signed myself up for the two A+ cert exams (Essentials and Practical) in February, as well as starting my Comp Sci I class in January. I also plan at some point taking the GRE so I can get into grad school for Comp Sci as well.

I am trying to learn as much of Python as I can right now. It's fairly easy so far, but I'm only on Lesson 17.

I can't wait for Christmas day. It's just going to be me and my dad chillin', which means it I will be spending most of the day playing Skyrim and programming. :)

Anyway, next Sunday is Christmas with the extended family on my Dad's side. Typically means lots of food. Really fatty, greasy food. I'll to make sure I don't over do myself like I usually do.

26 pounds before I'm 26 - Day 2

Hello!

OMG It snowed today here in Chicago. I'll be honest, not the biggest fan of snow especially after the Snow-pocalypse of last year. (I also just got out of the hospital which made it even more miserable.) Of course, it's pretty exciting to see the first real snowfall of the year. It gets me in the mood to sing songs about snow like "Baby, It's Cold Outside" or "Sleigh Ride".

So anyway, I didn't work out today :( but I did see my doctor. He gave me so pretty good advice. He told me if I stick by his 4 points of wisdom I should lose weight in no time

1. Only Eat Carbs in the morning (That way you can utilize them)
2. Don't drink Soda
3. Don't eat Chips (Or other junk food)
4. Don't eat out more often than 4 times a month

Of course, I did eat out tonight with one of my BFF's Jess. It was awesome! We went to TGIF's and then spent the night watching That Guy With The Glasses, Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged and DBZ Abridged and laughed the night away.

I came home and talked to my dad who happened to be loudly singing Christmas carols from the basement. We looked up a bunch of Christmas songs on the YouTubes. Don't ask me how we got to this topic but I have the blood of coolness in my veins apparently. We are decendents of Vikings and somehow Vikings are also related to Pirates and Cowboys. Next Halloween I need to be a Viking - Pirate - Cowboy combo.

Anyway, tomorrow (well actually later today) there shall be another amazing installment of the Adventures of The Sexy Techie!

Episode Title: "Swinging around Chicago!" (And you can interpret that anyway you want... :) )

26 pounds before I'm 26 - Day 1

Interesting Conundrum I find myself in...

Well, you know how yesterday I said I weighed 155lbs? I weighed myself this morning and found out that I am actually 150lbs.

This isn't going to change my goal at all though. It just means 150 will be my starting weight and 124 will be my end goal. It will still mean my BMI is between a 21-22, still within the healthy range. (I don't want to be underweight either)

I haven't weighed 124lbs at all in my adult life. Will I like being that weight? Part of me wonders if I think I will be too skinny? Honestly, I won't know until I get there. It's really not so much about the end result is it is about taking the steps to live a healthier life for the next 6 months.

I've had so many ideas for blog topics that I just want to write in one day, but I'm going to need to stretch out my blog posts so I have on everyday for 6 months. I'm going to have about 151 blog posts to go, so I better plan out some of my ideas so I actually have something to write about...

Anyway I can't wait to document my journey from here on out. It should be full of lots of fun, healthy and of course incredibly geeky moments. :)

26 pounds before I'm 26! - Day 0

Hello 3 people that follow my blog currently and everyone else that may happen to read it!

My friend Kerry had the idea of losing 25 pounds before she was 25, so I have decided that I will try to lose 26 pounds before I am 26!

My birthday is on May 8th, which means when I start tomorrow I will have exactly six months to do so. That means, I have 22 weeks. I will have to lose approximately 1.2 pounds per week to reach my goal. That is fairly reasonable I think.

Why am I doing this? Do I really need to lose 26 pounds? I don't quite need to lose 26 pounds, but to be in the healthy range I do need to lose weight. I am 5' 4" and weigh about 155lbs. (This is approximate, I will weigh myself tomorrow and then every week there after...) My BMI is 27. Anything between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered a healthy BMI. If I lose 26 pounds, my BMI will be 23, in the healthy range.

So, why start this now, especially before Christmas? Well, why not? I just thought about it today and realized that tomorrow will be exactly 6 months before I turn 26. Instead of waiting until the New Year, I might as well be watchful of my weight now, since my tendency is to gain weight during the holidays...

Also, for any first time readers, why do I call myself The Sexy Techie? It's because, will even though I'm not in the best shape, I'm still pretty damn sexy. Also I know a lot about computers. Not as much as I would like, but I also changing that as well. I am currently teaching myself Python, and I am signed up for a Java class starting in January.

So I guess this blog will be documenting my decent into becoming sexy as well as becoming a techie...

I am hoping I can inspire others to follow in my footsteps. Also, I would love some advice from others on how they keep their weight under control/keep healthy.

Anyway, peace out! I will check in tomorrow at some point :)
